BARRIE -- A 17-year old girl from Barrie has been killed in a rollover that happened Wednesday night in Barrie’s north end at 9:10 p.m.

The girl has been identified as Paige Ferreira.

"The vehicle left the roadway, struck a highway sign, continued to roll," Peter Leon Corporate Communications Coordinator, with the Barrie Police said.

The 17-year-old male driver, also from Barrie, was taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The accident happened on Georgian Drive near the main driveway to Georgian College when the driver lost control of the car, which then rolled over.

Both people were transported to Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre.

Thursday, friends and family of Ferreira shared photos on social media, saying, "she was the nicest girl you'd ever meet."

Police investigators are now studying the car's computer to figure out what happened in the moments leading up to the crash.

" That will assist us with determining a number of factors which remain unanswerable at this time. We're also going to be speaking to other witnesses, as well as people who were involved, specifically the driver last night," Leon added.

Police say no charges have been laid.

Anyone with information is asked to call police or Crimestoppers.
